Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson seems confident he'll meet his self-assigned “gargantuan task” of ending homelessness in Vancouver by 2015.

To hear him and city councillor Kerry Jang speak yesterday, it was as if all that stood in the way of a city where everyone has a warm place to sleep was a lack of provincial funding.

“There is a belief emerging that we can actually end homelessness in Vancouver” over the next few years, said the mayor.

But the academic who invited the politicians to participate in a panel discussing health issues affecting the homeless was less optimistic.

“That's a general direction” said Dr. Michael Krausz as he thanked the mayor for his speech, “but now we need to work out the details.”

WONDERLAND SLASH ANOTHER PLANET If the mayor believes he can solve the homeless problem in the city all the power to him. We at 2010homelesschampions have had a good look at the current problem as it exists, specifically in the dtes where you have an out of control situation, thousands and thousands of potential homeless people on any given day. Why you ask ''ADDICTION'' no one seems to see the obvious connection between the two. If that were not true then why is there such a huge support network for the addicts. The money that is spent, the services available, the mass dosage of enablement that tells the addict don't worry no matter what you do, spend your welfare money on drugs, get evicted because of drugs, commit crime because of drugs we got you covered. The taxpayers have paid a high price and will continue to, until we as a city find solutions about the worst per capital drug problem in all of north america. When you open a brand new sro that cost's 180 thousand per room to build ,and offer that room to a person that has a heavy addiction problem, or a mental challenge you have just given a person with very few life skills, low self esteem a free ticket to ride .If any one disagrees i challenge you to walk through first united church slash crack shack for JESUS and do a little survey, ask the patrons why there are there and you will find the answer to be universal, ROCKET SCIENCE i think not. On another note i personally no fifty people who have escaped this neighborhood and today lead productive lives and most would agree in principal with my opinions.
