'No-barrier' facilities being used

Some 280 homeless people in Vancouver who normally have trouble finding a shelter bed are taking advantage of "no barrier" facilities, Mayor Gregor Robertson announced yesterday.
For the past three miserable weeks, three shelters in the city have been taking in people whose pets or meagre belongings barred them from getting a bed in regular shelters.
"Many homeless people are reluctant to come to a shelter, often because they can't bring certain personal belongings inside," said Robertson.
