SofJ: Upcoming Events of Interest

Monday, November 12th is our next potluck dinner. For this occasion we will be meeting at 6:00 pm to share food together before our evening of reflection and discussion on what avenues of action we might take in the new year. I hope as many as possible might be able to make it out for this event, as we dialogue together on the future initiatives of SoJ.

Other Community Notes:

There are some community events that are coming up in November that you might be interested in joining. On Tuesday, November 13th from 7-9 pm at the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library, there will be a panel discussion on "Project Civil City: Housing and Homelessness." Panelists include David Eby from PIVOT Legal Society, Monte Paulson from the Tyee, and Mark Smith from Triage.

The other event is an evening of presentation and discussion on how the city of Portland, Oregon has been able to reduce homelessness by 70% in two years. It will be held on Thursday, November 15th @ 6:30 pm at St. Andrews-Wesley United Church (Burrard and Nelson in Vancouver), sponsored by "End Homelessness Now".
