Turfed Pandora pair told to look in Surrey

VANCOUVER - Residents of an apartment building whose roof gave way in a rainstorm just over a week ago say there could hardly be a worse time to be made homeless in Vancouver.

Construction worker Steve Goddard and his wife Lisa Yellow-Quill have still hadn't found any place to live on Monday.

With the Vancouver rental market so tight the former residents of 2131 Pandora have been advised to start looking in Surrey.

Goddard thinks some landlords have heard about the conditions that existed in the Pandora apartment owned by Shaughnessy resident Paul Sahota prior to its being ordered closed by city building inspectors.

"They've heard about the mice and cockroaches and the bedbugs," he said. "You have to tell them where you last lived and I think that's had something to do with us not getting a place."
