Squat Update - Thursday

Day 5 and the heat is on!
Wet all day, and with a hefty wind storm predicted for the late afternoon, things were a little cool down at the squat.
A warm front started with Rachelle bringing breakfast this morning and continued when a neighbour from the restaurant in the Ivanhoe brought HOT hot dogs in the afternoon. BUT things really heated up when Mike Todd arrived with a restaurant-size propane heater. CHEERS from the chilly section!! Jamie and April brought a hot dinner, hoping the tarp was still on the 'kitchen' after the westerly blew through. Still, it's going to be a cold damp night in those tents - so pray that our friends will get some sleep and get warm.
David Chudnovsky, NDP housing critic, came by to support the squat and various visitors dropped in to bring goodies, gloves and encouragement. Two visits from the police, first a friendly check up and later, a chat to let us know not all neighbours are happy about our presence. Overall, spirits continue to be remarkably positive despite the rough wet conditions.
