A majority of B.C.'s municipal politicians rejected a motion Friday from Vancouver that called for infrastructure spending to be tied to a community's willingness to take on social housing.
Vancouver Coun. Kim Capri brought forward the motion at the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention. Capri said it would get municipalities to take on their share of social needs.
But other delegates argued that it would make public conversations about community needs impossible. The motion was defeated by about a three-to-one margin.
