Project Civil City - A Public Debate

From the Vancouver Public Space Network...

Tuesday May 1 @ 7:00pm
Alice Mackay Room
Vancouver Public Library,
350 W. Georgia St.

We’ve assembled a diverse array of voices to take us beyond the ‘quiet polarization’ of the discussion thus far.

Speakers include:
  • Steve Herbert, Department of Geography, University of Washington
  • Irwin Oostindie, DTES Community Arts Network; E.D. Gallery Gachet
  • Dave Park, Chief Economist, Vancouver Board of Trade
  • Micheal Vonn, Policy Director, BC Civil Liberties Association
  • & other guests …

The event will be moderated by Peter McKnight, Municipal Affairs columnist for the Vancouver Sun. Speakers will be responding to a series of prepared questions covering key themes in the Project Civil City document that was produced by the Mayor’s Office.

We’ve also started to assemble a range of materials, reports and other resources connected with Civil City, which we’ve set up on our new www.civilcity.ca webpage. We’ll be adding more items over the next few weeks and months, so be sure to check it out. If you want the background on the PCC initiative, this is the place to start.
