Upcoming: Monday, March 5

This coming Monday night (March 5th), we will begin with another vigil at Broadway and Commercial, at 6:15 pm. The purpose of these vigils is to raise public awareness of the criminalization of poverty and the ways we are complicit in these misery-producing social structures. The vigil lasts until 6:45 pm.

We then return to Grandview Calvary Baptist Church to continue our planning. We still have a lot of work to do on the communication / education event, so those involved with that strategy (or those who want to join us in that) have their work cut out for them. The action group can meet to evaluate the actions so far, make any changes to the upcoming actions they feel necessary, and think about other public actions or strategies for action.

There are a few other issues we should discuss briefly as a group, such as how to link with other groups and participate with them in what they are doing; whether or not we should put together a rapid-response team to take action on short notice; the production of a basic leaflet of information about the group that could be distributed to others who might be interested; etc.

If you have other ideas for the group, by all means let me know so I can bring it forward at our gatherings.
